Article Summary









On 14 October 2019, the EU Council adopted restrictive measures in view of the situation in Nicaragua. That decision provides, inter alia, for the freezing of funds and economic resources of certain natural or legal persons, entities or bodies responsible for serious human rights violations or abuses or for the repression of civil society and democratic opposition in Nicaragua, those undermining democracy and the rule of law in Nicaragua, as well as persons associated with them.

There are no trade sanctions applicable against Nicaragua.


Financial sanctions: Listed persons & entities, restricted services

There are currently 21 persons and 3 entities on the list of people whose funds and economic resources are frozen.
